Kitchen Remodeling in Orange County

Your kitchen works harder than any other room in the house, so it needs to be built to last. District West handles the whole thing, from demo through final walkthrough, and tells you what we find behind the wall before we touch it.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost?

This depends on how far you're going. Most kitchen work falls into three tiers:

  • The Surface Refresh

This ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 and typically includes replacing the countertops, backsplash, sink, and faucet, as well as paint. Cabinets stay, layout stays, plumbing and electrical stay where they are. Jobs take 2 to 6 weeks (usually contingent on material availability).

  • The Full Replacement

This ranges from $20,000 to $50,000. It includes new cabinets, counters, appliance installation, flooring, lighting, and paint. We keep the same footprint, so no permits for structural work. And jobs are typically 4 to 12 weeks (contingent on size and material availability).

  • The Gut It

This ranges from $30,000 to $100,000+. A full renovation includes removing walls, moving gas and electrical, relocating plumbing, and then a customized project plan. This is where permits, plan check, and inspections come in. These jobs take between 8 and 24 weeks (typically due to permitting and inspection requirements).

Where you land inside a tier comes down to cabinet grade, whether the electrical needs to be brought up to code, and what we find once the walls are open.

Can I just upgrade my countertops and backsplash?

Absolutely! Roughly a third of our kitchen work is surface-only. It’s the right call when their cabinets are solid, and the layout already works for you and your family.

Can I stay in my house during the remodel/renovation?

For Surface Refresh jobs, the majority of your kitchen remains functional. As long as you can work around the areas in which our crews need access, there’s no need for any major alterations.

For Full Replacement and Gut It jobs, we can set up a temporary kitchen for you in an alternative portion of your house, reducing contamination from dust and debris. If that isn’t suitable in your home, and having a fully functional kitchen is important to you, then perhaps temporary off-site accommodations would be more comfortable.
